In a shocking turn of events, Mayor Bloomberg and Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly are in vehement opposition to an outside watchdog overseeing the NYPD.  Apparently, having an independent source supervise the actions of the NYPD would be disastrous for public safety and likely make the city “less safe.”
